Sometimes we help another person live their life because ‘that’s just what we do’. This means you may be a Carer. Let us help you in your caring role and support you to have a break!

Support for Carers

Respite & Carer Support – in the Home

Taking on a carer role can, at times, be exhausting. Sometimes, a carer may want to do something special for themselves; if you don’t feel you can do this in your caring role or don’t do this often enough, we can help by supporting your loved one while you go out. Astley Care can provide respite care and other support options to carers and the people for whom they care.

Our support workers are well trained, including in dementia care, and will provide company in the home, outings, personal care, meal preparation and light housework with the aim of giving the carer a break. Respite can be carried out on a regular, planned or one of basis and is available on weekdays. Limited hours are also open on weekends and evenings to enable carers to attend special occasions.
The respite can work in several ways; depending on your requirements and circumstances, we work with you to ensure the support offered meets you and your loved one’s needs.
Our highly trained staff will provide respite in your own home or take the person you care for on an outing to give you some time to yourself. Astley Care has Day Clubs, which operate five days a week; we will take care of your loved one so that you can plan other activities.

Our innovative Evening Club, held each Thursday, enables you to bring the person you care for along with you, or they can attend by themselves. These groups help carers establish new friendships with people in similar circumstances, learn about other services that may assist them, or simply provide the space to relax and have a few laughs. The evening includes dinner and activities, including games, puzzles, movie nights, guest speakers and entertainers, with an outing to another venue organised once a month.

Carer’s Group

Taking a break from your carer role provides a vital opportunity to recharge your batteries. If you are caring for someone and feel that you need some support why not contact us at Astley Care. Our Carers Group meets monthly for support, socialisation, information and training in a group setting. We can also provide transport to the group and a respite carer if required.
