Astley Care provides quality Day Club and Social Outing services to frail, older people and their carers living in their own homes. We employ local trustworthy staff who know your community.
Astley Care runs a variety of programs six days a week either, from Astley House or from our Langford Centre. The Astley House Club runs groups from Mon-Fri for frail aged people either from 10am to 2.30pm or a half day.
A Men’s Group, dementia specific program, a frail aged group, and a Younger People with Disabilities group are also run from the Langford Club. The programs aim to provide socialisation for isolated people who find it difficult to access other social venues and respite for carers.
Transport is provided in a bus equipped with a wheelchair hoist and trained staff provide personal care, if required. The programs include morning tea and lunch and a variety of activities to promote wellness. Access is through an Assessment. For more information phone the Day Club Coordinator on 6500 8230.
Our Day Club is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 3 pm.
Clients are actively involved in planning the programs and can choose their level of involvement in any activity. The Day Club is built on client choice and selection. The centre offers a range of activities in-house, including games, quizzes, concerts, and crafts and Community outings such as; restaurants, pubs, art centres, museums, shopping trips and other activities recommended in the groups.
We provide Lunch, Morning tea, refreshments and if needed, transportation.
In addition to our Daily Clubs, we have speciality Day Clubs.
Mondays – Men’s group. A group designed by men for men.
Tuesday – Dementia-specific group. To attend the Dementia specific group, a diagnosis of Dementia is not required, and this is not the only group suitable for people with memory loss. Activities are adapted to incorporate all levels of memory loss and participation.
Thursday evenings Carers group welcomes carers and the person they care for.
Like the Day Club, clients enjoy dinner together and can participate in activities and outings. The carer benefits by socialising with their partner/loved one in an accepting environment, making new friends, and sharing experiences.
Our Social Outing service runs Tuesday Evening, Friday weekly, and fortnightly on Wednesday and Saturday. 9.30pm – 3.30pm. This service is based on accessing the community. Some recent outings of choice have been to pubs, restaurants, the local library, shopping trips, and other places of interest.
Our Day Club and Social Outings are funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Service (CHSP); alternatively, if you have a Home Care Package, attendance can be financed via your package of support.
